Here are this week's auditionees who have been under the spotlight...


Alan, 26
Alan is a seasoned musician and has played in pubs. The judges had a good first audition of the day and were impressed by the voice.

Michael, 17
Michael believed he had the whole package - the voice and everything! But when he took part in the audition room, he had forgotten the words to Will Young's 'Leave Right Now' and spent a bit of time remembering the words...but it was all over. Simon told him to leave right now!

Katie, 44
Factory Worker, Katie believes that her age is the only chance to take part in the competition. She did sing well and although Sharon was happy, Louis could not see how he could fit her in his category. But Simon made a point that the competition was opened to anyone and gave Katie her second chance.

Laura, 21
Barmaid Laura had the right image for a rock singer and that is what impressed Sharon the most! When Laura performed Sandi Thom's 'I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker', it was enough to convince the judges that she had to go through.

Tina, 18
Barmaid Tina has a heart condition and recently had a heart operation and discharged herself just to be in the audition. After singing 'Killing Me Softly', the judges were pleased with her performance and she was prompt put through.

Identical: Gemma and Hayley, 25
Twins Gemma and Hayley form the duo, Identical and spent a bit of time perfecting their routine in front of the judges. Although they sung the beginning of 'These Dreams Are Made Of These' by Eurythmics, the middle section was what Simon did not like...and despite the repeated no calls from Simon as the twins performed 'Lean On Me', Sharon and Louis thought they were good enough and put them through!

Gemma, 22
Gemma decided to bring her boyfriend, Joe (who is also auditioning) for moral support. In the audition room, she did pretty well. But Sharon was not so keen. Louis and Simon thought she had a chance and put her through.

Joe
It was now Joe's turn to impress the judges. The judges were happier with the audition and all three put Joe through. However, the judges were more keen on Joe than his girlfriend Gemma.

Champagne, 35
Fork-lift driver, Champagne believes he has got the voice, talent, potential and when he performed in front of the judges with R. Kelly's 'I Believe I Can Fly', they were not impressed! Armed with two sunglasses and a plastic microphone, Simon wanted Champagne to stop when he started to sing 'Amazing Grace' and did not change his mind.

Agnes, 32
Mature student Agnes went into the audition room with her version of Roxette's 'It Must Have Been Love' but Simon couldn't help but laugh. Even though the judges did not put her through, Sharon told Simon off for laughing during auditions especially in front of a lady.

Samantha, 21
Samantha has two kids and feels that singing will change her life not only for her, but for her kids as well. After singing a good version of Bryan Adams '(Everything I Do) I Do It For You'. The judges were impressed especially Louis who was surprised.

Junction 4
The group included a member who auditioned in last year's The X Factor when he went out in the Boot Camp stage, Richard. He sang well, but the other three did not impress the judges. Simon suggested that Richard sing himself but said no to the others.

Twice As Nice: Karen, 21 and Carmen, 20
The duo from Glasgow were specially prepared for the auditions wearing leopard ears, paws and tails! They auditioned with 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' complete with the monkey squawks! The judges found the audition hilarious but it was a no!

Twice As Nice
 


Richard, 18

Earlier, Richard abandoned his group Junction 4 to audition for himself. He performed Lionel Richie's 'Hello'. The judges were happy with his performance and gave him the second chance! Can he do better this year and go beyond the Boot Camp stage?

Nikita, 17

Nikita took part because after her mum died of cancer last year, she was inspired to audition in her mum's memory. She performed Bonnie Raitt's 'Dimming Of The Day', the song she sang at her mum's funeral. The judges were impressed with her performance. Simon said that her mum would be proud of her.
