Journey South consist of brothers Carl Pemberton who is 24 years of age and Andy Pemberton who is 29 years of age and they come from Middlesborough. At a young age, younger brother Carl started singing and playing at gigs. It was later that his older brother Andy joined in. Simon was treated to 'Desperado' by The Eagles during the Judges' Homes stage. The duo live with a close-knit family and their musical influences include Richie Sambora, Mary J Blige and Freddie Mercury.

Are you a bathroom crooner or a karaoke lounge lizard?
We sing all over, but the acoustics are better in the bathroom!
Has life changed since you entered the contest?
People have started to notice us and we’re getting to work with top professionals. We’re living the dream and it’s amazing!
Do your friends treat you differently now that you’re a finalist on The X Factor?
My close friends are exactly the same, but we’re also hearing from past friends a lot now!
Where do you live and what is it like there?
At the moment we live in London where it’s all at!
After you finish the contest, is a career in music for you?
We hope to be lucky enough to have longevity in music, but we know how difficult that is.
Does music run in your families?
Our family is very musical!
Describe a typical day in your life…
Going to the gym early, then rehearsing, then photo shoots, then more exciting stuff!
What is your favourite sport?
Golf, Squash, working out at the gym.
What were your favourite subjects at school and why?
Our favourite subject was home time!
Do you have a favourite memory as a band?
Andy’s is the moment his son was born, and Carl’s is getting three ‘yes’ votes from The X Factor judges on the first audition.
What’s the strangest dream you’ve ever had?
Andy had a recurring dream about going to school and forgetting all his clothes!
What were the names of your first pets?
Sam the pigeon. He was wounded and we looked after him until he was well again.
Have you ever sung into a hairbrush?
No!
If you could duet with anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?
Richie Sambora or Mary J Blige.
Who are your biggest influences?
Queen, Bon Jovi, The Police, Billy Joel.
What music did you grow up with?
Our dad played Billy Joel all the time!
Has anyone asked for your autograph yet?
We’ve been asked loads!
Which X Factor judge do you most admire?
Simon Cowell, he is very genuine.
Were you shocked to get this far?
Definitely. You don’t think you’re lucky enough for something this good to happen to you!
