Cassie is a sociology, music and drama student aged 17 from North London. She has been singing for seven years and she gets her inspiration from her mother, Theresa who appeared on the talent show, 'Search For A Star'. She spoke of Simon Cowell's negative remarks against her: "Simon Cowell said he wouldn't put me through. But it just makes me want to do it even more if people keep chucking negative remarks at me. But he's never said I couldn't sing. It's a talent show and at least he's never said I've got no talent." Cassie spoke of her worst moment: "Sharon [Osbourne] invited us to her house and I was in Ozzy's study. I had a glass of coke and a plate of curry and I dropped them all over the floor. I felt like crying but Sharon just said 'Your face - it's hilarious'. I love my mum but if I could pick anyone else to be my mum it would definitely be her."
Q & As
Occupation? Student. I’m doing Drama, Sociology and Music.
Any formal singing training? No.
What part of The X Factor do you have? I’d say voice; otherwise I wouldn’t be where I am, personality and the determination.
Why will people vote for you? Hopefully because they think I’m talented but mainly if they like what I do. I’d like to entertain them and make them feel better, make them smile, or cry, that’s why they should vote for me.
What’s the best thing about your judge? Sharon is very hands on, she’ll be there every step of the way if you needed anything at all. She hasn’t got a huge ego where you’re just a pawn in a chess set, she’s there for you and thinks about your feelings just as much as winning the show.
Why are you glad you didn’t get the other two? Louis is very, very nice. Simon I don’t have a problem with, but I wouldn’t have been able to express myself as much as I can with Sharon.
What are your personal goals? To win The X Factor. To put some really good music out there, to set myself up in a comfortable position and make my friends and family proud.
Last CD you bought? I bought 2, Keane’s Hopes and Fears and Joss Stone, The Soul Sessions.
What music would we be surprised that you own? I’ve got a Steps album but I don’t listen to it any more.
Which artist do you most resemble or identify with? I don’t think I particularly resemble any artist, but I’d like to think I identify musically with Joss Stone. She’s the same age as me, we sing similar music and we come from similar backgrounds.
What do you sing in the shower? Whatever song’s just been on the music channel I’ve just been listening to. My bathroom and living room are right next to each other so whatever’s blasting from there is what I’m singing.
What’s one thing that would surprise the public about you? That I don’t have as much confidence as I should.
If you could have one Diva Demand? Definitely a phone! I like to talk, ask people what could Cassie not live without and it would be a phone. I like to talk to people and gather confidence and support before I perform.
