Daniel accuses X Factor of conspiracy
30 October 2007, 2:10PM

Daniel Debourg, the latest contestant to be axed from The X Factor has claimed that he has been a victim of an X Factor conspiracy after a last minute change to his song 18 hours before the live show.

Daniel was eliminated from the competition after he failed to impress the judges with his version of 'Build Me Up Buttercup'. But he revealed that he was about to sing 'When Doves Cry' by Prince.

Daniel told Digital Spy: "Brian Friedman had my whole 'When Doves Cry' routine choreographed - he'd hired the dancers and I was going to close the show this week, and then suddenly at 12am on Saturday I was given a CD of bloody 'Build Me Up Buttercup'".

Daniel is not sure who asked him to sing 'Build Me Up Buttercup', but is convinced that Simon Cowell had a part to play: "I don't trust Simon because it's his show. I think he may have had something to do with that song choice. I think he's out there to protect his acts and I know that he's seen me as a threat before. Who knows where that song choice came from? But it's Simon's show - remember that. I'm not saying Simon chose it, because I don't know."
