Daniel's post-performance reaction
28 October 2007, 11:13AM

Daniel Debourg is the second contestant to go home from the competition after he lost his Final Showdown battle with Alisha Bennett who once again was saved for another week. The pair pulled the lowest votes in the competition in which they had to perform again. Alisha first performed with 'Say A Little Prayer' while Daniel performed 'Build Me Up Buttercup'. Once again, it was song choices that were the reason for the fate of the pair.

This week, both Louis and Sharon both saved their acts with both Simon and Dannii voting out Daniel and saving Alisha convinced that she has more potential in the competition.

Asked what he thought of the decision, Daniel said: "Horrible. To be honest, I thought it would be a deadlock and I thought it would go to back to the public vote. But there’s stuff going on between Louis and Simon, and I think Simon wanted to rub it in to Louis, and there was no way they could put Sharon down to one act at this stage. But Alisha deserved to stay she’s a beautiful girl."

He revealed that he was going to sing a different tune: "Well, yeah. It was all very strange. I was singing the Damien Rice song, Cannonball, first. It would’ve been me and acoustic guitar on stage, amazing. Then they were like, ‘No, it has to be uptempo’, so it was going to be Prince, When Doves Cry. And that was set, I was going to close the show with When Doves Cry, and they had hired the dancers, and then I was due to go in a rehearse last Sunday, and on Saturday at midnight, Louis told me the song had had to be changed."

Daniel's best moments on The X Factor: "Meeting the gang. The rest of the performers were amazing, they’re a really good bunch of people. And of course performing in front of millions of people – you can’t argue with that!"

Finally asked what he would be doing next, Daniel said: "At the moment the day job is on hold. We’ll see what happens now. I’m sure I’ll go down and say hello to the kids and maybe go to some parties though!"
