Leon's old school to raise money for mum

Leon Jackson's old school have decided to organise an event to raise money for his mum, Wendy.
X Factor producers do not pay for travelling expenses for contestants' family members, but for Leon's mum, who lives in West Lothian, Scotland, she is struggling with accommodation and travelling costs.
Tonight, teaching assistant Pauline Tennett of Whitburn Academy school has offered to screen The X Factor for free but all attendees are asked to make a donation for Leon's mother.
She told the Daily Record newspaper: "Leon's gran lives next door to us and we wanted to help out. It costs a fortune for Leon's family to travel down but he must get a tremendous boost having his mum there. I've met him a couple of times and I think he's a lovely lad. There's no way fame will change him. I think he's got a great chance of winning the show provided he is given the right song."
