19/12/2004 - 'father and son' is the uk christmas number 2!

'FATHER AND SON' IS THE UK CHRISTMAS NO. 2!
Congratulations to Ronan once again because his new single, 'Father And Son' in collaboration with Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) has become the official UK Christmas No.2!  It also is the highest new entry this week and makes it Ronan's 13th top 10 hit which is becoming a unique achievement in its own right!  Well done to every one who has bought the single and what a good end to Ronan's year as well!!!  The official UK Christmas No.1 is of course the most appropriate 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' by Band Aid 20 raising loads of money for charity and well deserved too.  Other new entries in the top 10 include 'I Got You Babe' by Avid Merrion, Davina McCall and Patsy Kensit in at No.5 and 'I Have Forgiven Jesus' in at No.10.  And if you haven't bought a copy of the single yet, why not?  It's a brilliant cover and an ideal gift for Christmas!!!  Here's the run down of the UK Top 10 this week:

17/12/2004 - '10 years of hits' certified triple platinum!

We would like to congratulate Ronan because thanks to you, Ronan's Greatest Hits album '10 Years Of Hits' has been officially certified as triple platinum after spending nine weeks in the UK top 10 albums chart!  And it's still there at number 6 this week!  If you haven't picked up a copy, you need to because it features all the hits plus the latest single, 'Father And Son' which we need to tell you is out now to buy as a single and is different to the album version plus the recent hit, 'I Hope You Dance'.  We think it'll be an ideal present for Christmas!  Thanks to everyone who has bought the album!  Let's hope in another 10 years that the next Greatest Hits album is just as good as the last 10 years has been for Ronan!

15/12/2004 - 'father and son' on course!

'FATHER AND SON' - THE NEW SINGLE FROM RONAN OUT NOW!
'Father And Son' - the new single from Ronan in collaboration with the original singer who recorded it, Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) is out now!  And according to midweek sales, it looks more likely to hit the number 2 chart position which is fantastic news!  If you haven't bought the single yet, why not?  Get it while you can because it's out on two CD formats:
- the 2 track CD contains an exclusive spanglish version of 'When You Say Nothing At All' in duet with Paulina Rubio.  The song itself was previously unreleased and was only available on the 'Destination' album in Argentina and Mexico.  This is a limited edition single and is only available for one week only - so you better be quick!
- the enhanced CD contains a remix plus the two videos, 'I Hope You Dance' plus 'Father And Son'.

Also, just in case you wanted to know how Yusuf Islam got involved in the project, here's what he said recently: "I realised that Father & Son is an important song with a strong moral message. Ronan then rang me up personally - it was hard to say 'no'. I went along to the studio in Parsons Green, London, where Ronan was recording. The track sounded nice. So I got behind the microphone and started singing a couple of the father verses to loosen up. After a while I realised it was sounding good, everybody was really pleased with it. I did a few takes and it was done. That's how it happened."

12/12/2004 - it's christmas mania for ronan!

Did anyone see 'Christmas Mania' on ITV1 (UK) last night (11th December)?  Well you would have seen Ronan performing with backing vocalist Janet Remus, their version of The Pogues classic, 'Fairy Tale Of New York'.  And it was a great version of the tune!  The show was presented by Donny Osmond and featured performances from Westlife, Katie Melua, Hayley Westenra, Jamie Callum, Clare Teal and Il Divo.  Check the picture out on the left with Ronan and Janet together!

8/12/2004 - 'father and son' - get ready!

'Father And Son' - the new single from Ronan in collaboration with the original singer who recorded it, Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) is officially released this coming Monday (13th December) and it's going to be a fantastic release!   The single comes out on 2 CDs, the 2 track CD is a limited edition single only available for one week and the maxi CD contains a remix plus 2 videos!  Check out our Singles Discography for full details of this release!  But get ready - because it's out on the week of the Christmas No.1!

8/12/2004 - shane talks about boyzone

Shane Lynch, former member of Boyzone is currently doing pantomine spoke about what he thought about Ronan and Boyzone.  Speaking to Bucks Free Press, Shane spoke about how he would like to see Boyzone do a final gig: "I believe that we cheated the Boyzone fans when we did not get back together like we said we would. I'd love to do a concert for charity to say farewell to those people who were really dedicated to Boyzone as a way of saying thank you. I feel like we owe it to them."  Shane not angry about Ronan going solo but would like to make it up to the fans: "We said to the fans we were going to have a break in 2000 and when the time came to come back together in 2001 it was only to find a certain man went off and did his own solo album and then decided to do another one.  I did have a bit of a thing with Ronan as I was angry about it. Sometimes there are personality clashes and sometimes the truth can hurt.  I said sorry to Ronan and said it was a bad time in my life. But out of all of us there are still four of us who want to tour. I took part in a television show called The Games and all the boys came down and it was the first time we had been together for five years. They are four people who I have travelled and spent a lot of time with and you are going to bond with some more than others, that's life really."  Shane spoke about the times when he was with the band and how the break was good: "From 1998/99, I spent so many years travelling the road with just a television for company and suitcases and hotel rooms, going out and doing concerts.  Don't get me wrong, it is an amazing life but we didn't ever have a break.  You sort of get to the stage where you have enough. We had enough of just seeing each other all the time and we missed family and friends."  Shane has been recording material - hip-hop music which should be ready for February.

4/12/2004 - 'father and son' on its way!

As many of you know, Ronan will be releasing 'Father And Son' in collaboration with Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens).  It now looks more likely that the single be released on 13th December 2004 (in a week's time!).  The single will be released on 2 CDs and more information can now be found on our Singles Discography page.  Get ready for this Christmas treat!

2/12/2004 - single promotion

As many of you know, Ronan is going to release 'Father And Son' this coming December and to promote the single, Ronan is doing a couple of TV appearances.  This includes CD:UK (UK) on ITV1 on 4th December (this Saturday), Today With Des And Mel on ITV1 on 10th December, and GMTV on the same day (10th December) - tune in then!
