7:08pm GMT

On Monday 2nd December, Ronan performed the tune, 'In The Ghetto' at the Royal Variety Performance at the Hammersmith Apollo, London, UK.  We told you that we'll get details of when the event will be televised.  Good news!  The Royal Variety Performance will be shown on BBC1 (UK) on 15th December 2002 (Sunday).  The show will start at 8:00pm (GMT).  Many other performers were present including Will Young, Gareth Gates and Liberty X.  So make sure you don't miss this annual event.  The Prince Of Wales was present at the event.

8/12/2002 - coming second the second time around!

7:11pm GMT

It was really a close contest indeed!  This year's Record Of The Year 2002 saw ten fantastic artists go head to head to win the award of the year!  Ronan performed his number 1 hit, 'If Tomorrow Never Comes' and was wearing a dark red leather jacket, checked scarf and jeans and he performed the tune brilliantly!  He was accompanied with some of his band members.  After an hour's wait of voting, the results were received.  But this year, the results were done slightly differently.  From the ten, only seven were to go through to the next round, Ronan got through, but Holly Valance, Shakira and Liberty X (with their brilliant tune, 'Just A Little') were out of the contest!  A while later, only five were to go through to the final round, Ronan was through again, but Elvis Vs. JXL and Enrique Iglesias did not make the final five.  The excitement built up as the five artists, Ronan, Atomic Kitten, Will Young, Gareth Gates and Darius were awarded points in 14 regions across the UK.  Ronan did score some 10 pointers and was constantly coming second or third place.  The results before the final votes saw both Ronan and Gareth Gates drawing neck to neck for the crown!  But Gareth had just pipped the crown and won the Record Of The Year 2002 with his brilliant cover of the tune, 'Unchained Melody' (and well done to him!).  Ronan came joint second with Will Young which is a brilliant achievement!  It was only in 1999 that Ronan had also come second for his tune, 'When You Say Nothing At All' when Westlife took the crown!  Nevertheless, Ronan had attracted thousands for his brilliant tune!  The final scoreboard is shown below:

1. Gareth Gates - 'Unchained' Melody' 134
2. Will Young - 'Evergreen' 132
2. Ronan Keating - 'If Tomorrow Never Comes' 132
4. Darius - 'Colourblind' 111

5.

Atomic Kitten - 'The Tide Is High (Get The Feeling)' 91

We would like to thank all the fans for voting for Ronan!  Out of the five years Record Of The Year has been around, Ronan has appeared in four of them (the only artist to have appeared some many times) including Boyzone who won the Record Of The Year in 1998 for the song, 'No Matter What'.  Let's hope that Ronan can do it again next year and perhaps win the Record Of The Year in 2003!!!

7/12/2002 - how did the lecture go?

7:03pm GMT

Ronan recently made a visit to the Fame Academy last Thursday (5th December).  You are probably asking what advice Ronan gave to the students?  Here's what Ronan had to say.  Firstly he described how it is to be a pop star with media attention: "Dealing with the media is hard and you do take it seriously but you have to laugh it off; take any of it on board and it will affect you."

He finally added the great things about being a solo pop star: "As a solo artist it's great because now I can do what I want to do, songs, video, photos, so when something works out right it's on my shoulders, but equally when something goes wrong that's also on my shoulders."

1/12/2002 - we've got tonight is a hit!

7:00pm GMT

'WE'VE GOT TONIGHT' REACHES NUMBER 4!
It was stiff competition this week, but good news!  Ronan's new single, 'We've Got Tonight' reached an excellent number 4 in the UK charts!  We would like to congratulate Ronan for getting this brilliant position!  Though, Daniel Bedingfield took the top position this week and Atomic Kitten at number 2 with their double A-side single, 'The Last Goodbye/Be With You' (congratulations to them!), Ronan managed to beat off competition from Darius whose single, 'Rushes' reached number 5 and Enrique whose single, 'Maybe' reached a disappointing number 13 not even making the top 10!  Here's the chart position of the week below:

1 Daniel Bedingfield - If You're Not The One

2 Atomic Kitten - The Last Goodbye/Be With You

3 Christina Aguilera - Dirrty

4 Ronan Keating feat. Lulu - We've Got Tonight

5 Darius - Rushes

6 Nelly feat. Kelly Rowland - Dilemma

7 Las Ketchup - The Ketchup Song (Asereje)

8 Jennifer Lopez - Jenny From The Block

9 Will Young - Don't Let Me Down/You And I

10 Liam Lynch - United States Of Whatever

Speaking to Dr. Fox on the Pepsi Chart, Ronan talked about the uncertainty of where the single would land up: "Totally man, I didn't know where (the tune) in the chart!".  Dr. Fox asked about whether the single was the last one from the album, 'Destination'.  Ronan responded giving a hint about a new single in the new year, "No, 'The Long Goodbye' comes out in March. It will be the fourth and last single from the album.  So I'm looking forward to that as it is a song I have written myself".  Dr Fox then asked what Ronan if he will be doing anything over Christmas, Ronan said: "Yeah, I'm doing all the usual stuff, the Record Of The Year show, Royal Variety, then I'm taking Christmas off with my family in Ireland.  And then we've got the tour in April and the new single in March, so we're busy starting next year too."  Ronan finally thanked the fans for getting the single: "Thanks everyone for buying it (the single)."

We would like to thank you the fans for getting Ronan another brilliant hit!  You have done well to get him in this position!  If you haven't got the single, yet!  Don't hesitate!  Buy it 'cos it's a fantastic tune - you don't know what you are missing out!  Plus check out these resources!

- Check the Singles Discography for full track listings and all the details!
- Check out the lyrics to 'We've Got Tonight' at Ronan Keating World!  We will be putting up the b-side tracks in the lyrics page soon - we have said this for days, but rest assured, they will definitely be up very soon!

Once again, many congratulations to Ronan!  And to you the fans as well!  So come, keep supporting Ronan!
