31/10/2004 - ready for the new year?

5:45pm GMT It's now only two months until the new year 2005!  But are you ready Ronan fans?  Well, you're not if you haven't got the Official 2005 Ronan Keating Calendar!  It contains some fabulous shots of Ronan and you can plan the new year with Ro (not actually with the real person, but the next best thing) - such as when the next Ro gig is on or perhaps when the next single or new album is going to be released!!!  So get it before the new year to prepare for the new year!  It's out now at all good stores, but if you want to buy it directly online, you can try HMV, Amazon or Starstore.com (click the links for direct pages to the item).

26/10/2004 - ro speaks about illness

7:31pm BST Ronan spoke recently about his recent illness he had earlier last month.  He was struck down by a bacterial infection that kept him in hospital for a short period of time.  He told The New Paper, he commented: "I've never been ill like that. It was a wake-up call for me.  It reminded me that the human body is fragile, and I've taken it for granted that I'm young and healthy."  In order to stay in good health he had rest and spent time with his family for a while before moving on.  Ronan spoke about what his family thought when he was in hospital with a nasty boil on his face: "When my son started crying, he just broke my heart.  I told myself, 'You've got to look after yourself especially when you've two children to take care of for the rest of your life."   He believed that it was down to a lot of working and is now taking precautions: "After a gig, I don't go drinking with the guys (his crew) until two or three in the morning.  I try to eat three proper meals and not eat packed sandwiches even when I'm on the go."  To keep fit, Ronan plays with his kids and takes the dogs for a walk.  Ronan also spoke that he doesn't plan to be part of the reunion tour for Boyzone next year: "I don't think I want to go through leaving the band again. It's messy. I'm happy doing my own thing.'  But Ronan has ruled out any rifts from the other Boyzone members and is keeping in touch.  Ronan finally talked about singing being his passion: "I'm slowing down but I'm not going to retire until I'm 50 or 60. I love what I'm doing and I'm not about to give it all up."

22/10/2004 - father and son - to be released?

9:46pm BST According to some sources, the Ronan and Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) collaboration of the tune, 'Father And Son' is to be released as a single on 6th December 2004.  There is no official word on such claim neither is there any indication that it will be released as a Christmas single.  We'll be keeping a good lookout of such a release but at the moment there are no such plans.  This version 'Father And Son' can be found on Ronan's Greatest Hits UK No.1 album, '10 Years Of Hits' which is out now!

22/10/2004 - walsh slams keating

9:42pm BST Louis Walsh, former co-manager has slammed Ronan for not crediting him or Boyzone on his '10 Years Of Hits' album.  Walsh hit out saying that Ronan was "untalented".  Speaking out, Walsh said: "I picked 90 per cent of the songs on that album. Boyzone aren't credited anywhere on it, either.  Yet without Boyzone, Ronan would have been nothing.  Ambition, a willingness to work hard, looks and talent. Ronan had all of those except talent."

19/10/2004 - ronan keating world gets a facelift!

19/10/2004 - live in dublin!

18/10/2004 - see ronan live!

7:36pm BST Ronan will be performing a one-off special gig with the BBC Concert Orchestra for BBC Radio 2 (UK) and you've got a chance to be there!  The event will take place on 10th November 2004 at the Mermaid Theatre, London, UK.  To have a chance of winning one of 10 pairs of tickets, visit the Official Ronan Keating Website!  The event will be broadcasted in December on BBC Radio 2, so make you tune in then!!!

17/10/2004 - 10 years of hits - a number 1 album!

9:48pm BST 10 YEARS OF HITS IS THE UK NO.1 ALBUM! 15/10/2004 - no sympathy for the beckhams

10:15pm BST Ronan spoke recently about the celebrity couple David and Victoria Beckham.  He slammed them claiming that they were "soulless".  He also said that they deserve all the negative press they have been getting.  The Beckhams claim that the British press have been treating them badly, but Ronan has no sympathy: "I don't sympathise with them, as they chose that lifestyle. I want to be in the press because of my music, not because of the clothes I am wearing. It's soulless."

14/10/2004 - ro hits it every time!

7:14pm BST Last Tuesday (12th October), Ronan was at a launch party of his '10 Years Of Hits' album (which is out now - get a copy!!!).  The event was held at Cafe de Paris in London, UK.  But Ronan was given something special and that was a special award!  He was presented with a Guinness Hit Singles Award for the artist with the longest run of consecutive of top ten hits! 14/10/2004 - betting update...

7:09pm BST An update to yesterday's report about who is going to be this year's UK Christmas No.1!  The bookmaker, William Hill, have now put Ronan & Yusuf (formerly Cat Stevens) collaboration of 'Father And Son' as the firm favourite to be the Christmas No.1 at 6/1.  The winner of the ITV reality TV series, 'The X Factor' single is now out of the competition as the release date was changed.  Now far behind for Christmas No.1 single is Robbie Williams and U2 at 12/1.  Once again, there is no confirmation whatsoever of an actual single release of 'Father And Son', but we'll keep you posted!  You can check out the tune on Ronan's Greatest Hits, '10 Years Of Hits' which is out now!!!

13/10/2004 - father and son xmas favourite?

6:46pm BST The bookmakers have once again made bets for who is going to be this year's UK Christmas No.1 single.  It's two and half months 'til Christmas, but bookmakers William Hill have put Ronan and Yusuf's (formerly Cat Stevens) collaboration of 'Father And Son' as second favourite to be the Christmas No.1.  However there is no indication whatsoever that this will be released as a single!  Also, Ronan said in an earlier report: "Let's not even go there! That's dangerous territory...".  It's just a matter of time of if that will ever happen.  Other artists up for the Christmas No.1 is the winner of the ITV reality TV series, 'The X Factor' as favourite, Brian McFadden, U2 and interestingly enough, Bruce Forsyth!  The Ronan and Yusuf version of 'Father And Son' can be found on Ronan's Greatest Hits album, '10 Years Of Hits' which is out now!

11/10/2004 - 10 years of hits  - out now!

6:15pm BST 10 YEARS OF HITS - THE NEW RONAN ALBUM OUT NOW! 10/10/2004 - vote for ronan at the smash hits awards!

9/10/2004 - leann to return favour

3:31pm BST During a gig recently at the Hammersmith Apollo, London, UK, LeAnn Rimes (pictured) was surprised by Ronan's appearance to sing along with her.  Asked in an interview, Ronan said LeAnn would probably return a favour: "If she's around in December, she will.  We're very good friends. I was around doing TV in London so I dropped by and got up and sang the song with her. But there aren't any definite plans for her to do the same.  I'm going out to the US because the single's Top 15 this week. So we're going to do some TV and we'll be doing stuff together then.  I just signed a deal with Curve Records out there so it looks good."  However Ronan is not optimistic about cracking the US: "But I've been burnt before so I won't get my hopes up in the US".

8/10/2004 - ronan will walk again!

8:17pm BST It has been revealed that Ronan will be doing another walk in Ireland next year.  Last year, Ronan successfully completed the Walk Ireland 2003 Tour which took him from Giant's Causeway to the south coast of Ireland in the Old Head Of Kinsale raising £160,000 for the Marie Keating Foundation in Ireland and Action Cancer in Northern Ireland.  Ronan plans to walk from Giant's Causeway to the west coast of Ireland.  Ronan spoke to the Belfast Telegraph about his support for the Caron Keating Foundation (no relation whatsoever): "I didn't see the Tonight programme with Gloria [Hunniford] but I believe it was heartbreaking.  I think it's great she has set up a charity in her daughter's name and I would encourage people up north to support it. At the end of the day we are all trying to raise money for a worthwhile cause".

7/10/2004 - ronan keating world - welcome back!

9:35pm BST Hello and welcome back to a hugely updated Ronan Keating World - you may have noticed over the last few months of the lack of updates.  We have collected news from back then and have managed to keep the news up to date!  This means you can be assured that from now on, we will have news as we get it!  And what a great way to return just in time for the release of Ronan's Greatest Hits album, '10 Years Of Hits' which is out this coming Monday (11th October)! There will be more changes coming and this includes: - Interactive sections - due to the lack of time, there will be a few interactive features removed from the site.  The quizzes are getting harder to maintain and so we will be concentrating on the Guest Book and Poll.  So we apologise if you have sent e-mails recently but there is some backlog and it is getting quite hard to manage now! - More pictures - we shall be adding a whole new set of pictures in the Gallery soon - and just to show this, we have added a picture to this news story (what do you think?). - Facts section - yes!  We were meant to add this long time ago - but it is a page of interesting music facts that you'll really want to read!!! 7:10pm BST 'I HOPE YOU DANCE' GOES STRAIGHT INTO NUMBER 2! Congratulations to Ronan who's latest single, 'I Hope You Dance' enters at Number 2 in the UK singles chart!  Ronan has now achieved his 12th top 10 hit and this is an exciting achievement! Well done to those who bought the single and in particular those who bought the single in ASDA supermarkets as proceeds made from the single go to the supermarket's Tickled Pink campaign!  Don't forget that Ronan's Greatest Hits album '10 Years Of Hits' will hit the shelves next Monday (11th October) and includes all his current hit singles plus new recordings of classic Boyzone tunes plus a previously unreleased track!
