25/7/2002 - a touch of musical class

5:11pm BST

Ronan has agreed to sponsor tuitions for a vocalist course which lasts a year in a new music school in Rock Place, Brighton.  The course can be done full-time or part-time.  Ronan will judge auditions in August.  Ronan talked about the idea: "'I'm very happy to help outThere's so many talented new artists out there, sometimes they need a helping hand to get them started in the music industry".  The school was founded by Bruce Dickinson front man of Iron Maiden and provides help to pop star wannabes.

Other guests participating include Martin McCarmick of Therapy, Rob Harris of Jamiroquai and Carleen Anderton of the Brand New Heavies.  Also, a songwriting competition has also been organised and is sponsored by Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon.

21/7/2002 - g'day ronan!

2:07pm BST

It's been sometime now, but Ronan has been in Australia and New Zealand in his Destination '02 Tour.  And if you really want to know what is going on down there, we've got some information!  Ronan recently spoke to The New Zealand Herald about his album and what the fans reactions would be.  Here's the interview...

Ronan was asked about how his music has changed from the boy band days of Boyzone: "I think I have put [the boy band tag] behind me, but it's not something I feel I have to do, because I'm not ashamed of it. It got me where I am and I'm lucky to be here. At the same time, we all need to grow up and move on and I feel I have done that now. And I think people are starting to accept me now as a solo artist."

Ronan even discussed how he did the solo work all alone: "You know, I did a lot of work on my own to be honest. I spent a lot of time in the studio on my own."  On the subject of the album, Ronan discussed what his fans in New Zealand are in for when listening to the album, 'Destination': "The strength of his singing will surprise fans and cynics alike - it's almost like hearing a new artist for the first time."  His voice was also an issue: "I guess [my voice has] matured. I was 16 when I made my first album. I have been singing professionally for nine years. That can only do good, if you do it right ... I look at Elton John, George Michael - people who have been around 20, 30 years - and I'm envious. I want a piece of that."

Ronan discussed his further attempts to conquer America: ""If America happens, great. If it doesn't, I'm very happy with what I have."  Finally, Ronan emphasised that it was music that was important to him than anything else: "I'm not one of these people who want to make an album, make a bit of money and retire and live on a beach. I love music. I don't know how to do anything else."

Ronan is currently on his last leg of the Australia tour going to Melbourne (22nd July), Adelaide (24th July) and finally Perth (26th July).  He'll be then moving on to South Africa into August.  Check out the Tour & Appearances page for full details.  And finally, has anyone of you been to any Ronan gigs?  What did you think?  Why not send us an e-mail and give us a short review of the show!

7/7/2002 - another crack at the states

6:08pm BST

After a failure last year to get the US to listen to the single, 'Lovin' Each Day', Ronan is aiming to give it another go.  The US is the toughest place to crack as it is the one with the world's biggest pop music audience.  Boyzone were unable to get heads turning - but can Ronan do it?  We really hope so!  Ronan has been having a summer break from the Destination '02 Tour in which he covered the UK and Ireland last month.  He will then be moving on to Australia and New Zealand later this month.  Finally, according to sources, Ronan is to release the single, 'Life Is A Rollercoaster' in the US on 20th August 2002.  We'll keep you posted on the progress.

5/7/2002 - on the party cd

6:37pm BST
Ronan's recent number 1 hit 'If Tomorrow Never Comes' is featured on the latest 'Party In The Park 2002' CD!  The double CD collection also features artists such as Atomic Kitten, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Enrique Iglesias, Blue, Westlife, The Corrs and many, many more!!!  Sounds good doesn't it?  Then why not, order the CD at Amazon.co.uk today?  Party In The Park 2002 will be held this Sunday (7th July) at Hyde Park, London, UK and will feature a huge host of stars!  There however is no confirmation that Ronan will be there this year.  If he does, it'll be his fifth appearance at the event!  So far, it looks unlikely due to his Destination '02 Tour.  But if he does, we'll tell you first at Ronan Keating World!

2/7/2002 - ronan at the kumars

4:39pm BST

If you were watching TV yesterday, you probably caught a glimpse of Ronan making his appearance in 'The Kumars At No. 42' on BBC2 (UK) at 9pm BST last night.  The show stars a family who run a chat show - but not any old chat show!  'Cause the family's also in it too!  The show stars actors, Sanjeev Bhaskar (pictured right) as the chat show host, Meera Syal (pictured left) as the grandma, Indira Joshi as the mother and Vincent Ebrahim as the father.  Ronan on the night was dressed in a cream suit and white shirt and was cool on the evening!  Ronan was asked many things in the show, this included family, his job in a shoe shop and charm!  To make things funnier, Ronan was about to sing with Sanjeev, his number 1 hit, 'Life Is A Rollercoaster', but unfortunately, Sanjeev got too carried away and sang it himself - poor Ronan!  Also making a guest appearance was Nigel Havers who was brought on the same subject of charm!

1/7/2002 - ronan on tv!

7:37pm BST

You can catch Ronan on TV tonight!  He'll make an appearance in 'The Kumars At No. 42' tonight at 9pm BST on BBC2 (UK).  He'll be joined with star guest Nigel Havers (pictured).  The shows funny, we wonder what sort of things Ronan will be asked?  Other than that, enjoy!
