| July 2001 Eternally Purrfect! |
Continuing their successful
run of the charts, Atomic Kitten released another smash hit single,
'Eternal Flame'. A brilliant cover version of the Bangles song, the
Kittens ensured their huge influence on the pop audience was strengthened
and this was proven by 'Eternal Flame' hitting the UK No.1 spot after its
release on the 23rd July. They stayed top for 2 weeks and became the first
group since Westlife in '99 to score the most weeks at No.1 (UK) for both
'Whole Again' and 'Eternal Flame'. In week 1 only, around 141,000 copies
of 'Eternal Flame' had been sold. 'Eternal Flame' beat off competition
from Destiny's Child and Robbie Williams.
