This song was originally a hit for the Bangles in the late 80s. But we must say that the Kittens put on a wonderful cover version of this song which was in itself a hit for them (we think it is better than the original!!). It also has that Rhythm & Blues style with it. The guitar is a particular feature in the song and gives the song a strong foundation. Add the bass and strings and the song is complete.As for what the song is about...well it appears to us that this song is about feelings. One thinks about another and wonders whether they have the same feelings as they do about them. Look closely at the lyrics, 'Close your eyes, give me your hand darlin'...do you feel my heart beating? Do you understand?' wonders if that person is close. While the lyrics, 'Do you feel the same? Or am I only dreaming?' only looks at the other side, if that person is thinking exactly the same. If it is so, does that mean it will last forever? (or as the song puts it 'burn an eternal flame'?).
The bridge is very powerful and Tash puts on a wonderful performance at the end. Jen and Lil provide a fantastic backing and each member sings a verse each.
Overall, this is a classic love song. Everyone sure knows it, but more will remember it after the Kittens wonderful cover version of it.
