A review of
Manchester
Support act Kiara Hunter, not that good but got
quite a good reaction considering. I think
her two dancers were keeping most of the crowd
awake.
Then a long interval before DJ Darren Proctor
warmed up the crowd.
Then another smaller interval before the lights
went off and the curtain drops to reveal the set
and live band. The girls entered wearing
white tops and combats (Liz - blue, Tash - pink
and Jen - white) the stage to much applause and
began the show with the high-energy Right Now
leading into Turn Me On. Then the girls
slowed things down a bit for Eternal Flame and get
the crowd to sing with them. Then they did a
cover of Get Down On It which the band continue to
play as the girls left the stage for a costume
change.
The girls came back on wearing
lovely-coloured-purple and black clothes, Liz and
Jen both opting for leather trousers. Then
they continued the show with Tomorrow & Tonight.
Then into Hippy and Get Real before another
costume change.
They come back on stage wearing all white and did
their slow set starting with Liz on her own
singing accompanied by the guitar player.
Then the other two girls appear (I couldn't
actually see at this point so I'm going on what
happened at Preston). Then they did Cradle
sitting on big bean bag things. Then when
the girls came to the front of the stage Liz
noticed that her flies were undone so spent most
of the end of the song trying to zip them up and
missed her cue to say that she saw people snogging
at the back. Then onto Follow Me were Tash
told Jen that she sang the song better, I have to
agree I'm afraid. Then on come the stools
for them to perform a new song called It's OK.
Then onto You Are before leaving the stage for
another final costume change.
The girls come back on wearing jeans and different
coloured tops to perform a speeded-up version of
See Ya which goes nicely into I Want Your Love and
in the first verse Liz missed one of her lines.
And then Kids In America where they forgot the
dance routine. And then Bye Now, and their
farewells to the crowd.
The encore seemed to last for ages. Then the
kittens came back on cause they'd forgotten to do
a song, they'd forgotten it the night before too,
in fact the night before they couldn't remember
what it was called and needed a bit of help from
the crowd. The song they had forgotten was
Whole Again, which they really didn't need to sing
as the crowd virtually sang it for them. They said
that we should get a record deal, they obviously
didn't hear my brother! And then onto Dancing In
The Street, which everyone seemed to enjoy.
All in all a good night, a bit different from
Preston cause Manchester had a bigger stage
allowing them to have dancers as well as the band.
But what I did like about Preston was Lil jumping
off the stage and onto the barrier during Whole
Again. But Manchester was better cause Jenny
and Lil smiled when they saw the "WE LOVE ATOMIC
KITTEN" banner I was holding for my brother who is
in a wheelchair and couldn't see a thing cause of
the big speakers on the stage.
