Kerry helps create
playground
18/11/2004, 7:40pm
GMT
Kerry
Katona recently took a four day challenge to help
create a playground, sports pitch and a sensory
garden at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, UK.
The event can be seen on ITV1's 'With A Little Help
From My Friends' to be broadcasted soon.
Of course, Kerry wasn't going to do it alone, so she
got the helping hand from her old friends and
teachers from Padgate High School in Warrington.
She told the Liverpool Echo about the challenge:
"When I arrived I honestly thought it was going to
be a tiny little park and a couple of swings, a
roundabout maybe. Then, when I turned up to
the site, I was like 'oh my God! We're never going
to get this done, never in a million years'. But
it's the kids that make you do it. It was
huge. I'm just so glad so many people turned up. I
mean, we would have been in a bit of trouble if I
had only had two friends. Everyone worked really
hard and some of my friends even stayed back when
they were not supposed to be working." And
with help from local companies to supply free
material to regenerate the site, it just seemed
possible. Kerry's friends spoke about Kerry,
Joanne said: "She is just bossy so she fitted the
part perfectly" Emma added: "Kerry is just great at
shouting at people." Kerry spoke
about her reunion with her friends: "It was one of
the most difficult times of my life but it has made
me the person I am today. I think the memories
you get from your friends makes your life. To me,
friends are the most important thing I think any
person can have in their lives. If you don't have
friends, I don't think you have anything." She
also spoke about her foster parents Fred and
Margaret Woodall: "I moved in with Mag and Fred when
I was 14 and I had some of my favourite years with
them. Fred gave me away at my wedding. They taught
me what a real family life was like, they grounded
me when I was in trouble coming home drunk. I wasn't
a naughty kid at all, I was very well behaved. I
just did what every average teenage kid got up to,
nothing outrageous." Finally on the subject of
celebrity status: "I always think I am out of my
depth. I never actually think 'Oh my God, I'm really
famous.' I'm not. I'm just a C-lister. I can just
bring that little bit of a sparkle into some
people's eyes, but I sometimes think I'm out of my
depth because I'm such a chancer, a blagger.
When I turned up to the site at Alder Hey I again
thought: 'I'm out of my depth here, I've jumped in
at the deep end as I always do. You're not supposed
to be doing this, you're supposed to be in an office
somewhere doing a 9-5 job'." But at the nd
they all did a good job, well done Kerry!!!

Now
since Kerry split with Brian McFadden, Kerry wants
to forget the past and wants to be known once again
as Kerry Katona. She told the crew on CD:UK to
call her by her maiden name. A source told The
Mirror newspaper, "Kerry is determined to put the
past behind her - and this is the way to show it."

Kittens to release
new single!
12/11/2004, 10:20pm
GMT
Atomic Kitten are going to release a new single
in January next year! 'Cradle' which was released as
a single in Japan only will be released in the UK on
3rd January 2005. The song which originally appeared
on the 'Right Now' album has been completely
rerecorded. The single is also being released to
support the charity World Vision which is a 24-hour
Famine Youth fundraiser - all proceeds from the
single will go to this charity. This event raises
money to support health and care to those vulnerable
children in developing countries like Malawi, Zambia
and Ethiopia. Jen and Lil are official ambassadors
of this campaign. They will be appearing in a TV
documentary on 24-hour Famine Weekend on 18-20
February 2005. Jen talked about the campaign: "I am
really looking forward to working with World Vision
on the 24-hour Famine campaign. I expect the trip to
Zambia to be a life-changing experience, especially
being able to meet children who have been directly
affected by HIV/Aids and knowing that we are helping
them through our support.” Lil added: "Children
orphaned by HIV/Aids in country’s like Zambia lead a
very difficult life, so it is an amazing opportunity
to be able to support World Vision’s 24-hour Famine
campaign and encourage kids from the UK to get
involved and help make a difference."
Tash is currently on maternity leave and is
expecting her second child in January.
We will be getting more info on the single soon.
[Update 8/12/2004: 'Cradle' will now be released on
14th February 2005.]
