KITTENS @ PITP 2003
COVERAGE
Here is our exclusive review of Atomic Kitten's performance
at this year's 95.8 Capital FM's Party In The Park!
Plus check out our exclusive pictures of the Kittens at the
event!!!
On
Sunday 6th July 2003, it was another glorious dry day in the
heart of London. And once again we are at this point
in time where 100,000 people gather together to catch their
favourite music stars perform their tunes live! Yes,
it's another year for Party In The Park and would you
believe it - it's in it's sixth year! And to top that
up, it's Atomic Kitten's third appearance at the event and
they just seem to get better and better at this as they have
been so used to doing these kinds of shows! As they
emerged on stage, we could see about 11 dancers with their
backs to the audience each spelling a letter for Atomic
Kitten, and so were the Kittens in their starting
positions! The show started and we were treated to a
short intro of 'Be With You' to get the crowd in the swing
of things...but then we were taken onto the next bit, the
wonderful performance of 'The Tide Is High (Get The
Feeling)' which is the most appropriate tune for a summer's
day like today! The Kittens turned to the audience and both
Tash and Jen were wearing black sleeveless tops and white
bottoms with the exception of Lil who was wearing a
sleeveless white jacket. The familiar dance moves of
the songs were performance alongside the wonderful dancers
that the Kittens had around them. And as you could see
from the crowds who were close
enough,
they all danced alongside - simply perfect! Once the
performance was done, the Kittens shouted to London asking
them how they are today - the crowds shouted and screamed!!!
Tash then told the audience that they were going back a bit
to sing a song that made them number 1, 'Eternal Flame'.
The dancers had moved off the set as the Kittens got
together for this classic ballad. The audience were
swaying and it was so nice! Just a point to make, the
Kittens promo videos were playing while the Kittens were
performing their stuff! As a finale, the Kittens gave
us a medley of brilliant tunes from their 'Feels So Good'
album! Starting off, the Kittens started with
'Be With You' and the dancers were back on stage with those
Atomic Kitten jackets spelling each letter of their name!
They then threw their jackets off midway when the Kittens
went into their tune 'Feels So Good' - and it was so good!
Then they moved on to the hit, 'It's OK!' - but we think it
was more than okay, it was outstanding too! Then to
end the medley into a good note, the Kittens ended the
medley with 'Be With You'. The crowd response was high
and alert and everyone loved it! As the Kittens moved
into their final positions with their dancers surrounding
them, so did the sparks fly! Wow! All in all
what can be said about today? Well without a doubt,
marvellous!
The Kittens took us on an exciting journey into their music
and what made everyone smile was the fact that the Kittens
were waving at the audience to greet their fans when they
saw one. Thank you Atomic Kitten for another year of
performances at Party In The Park and thank you for another
glorious day!!!
Atomic Kitten described how their day went when they were
interviewed by Katy Hill and Andi Peters on their 'Hit Super
Sunday' show on 95.8 Capital FM! First Andi started
off by asking the Kittens whether they enjoyed performing in
front of so many people. They said: "Yes! It was
a bit nervewracking" with Tash continuing: "It always is
when we do this gig 'cause like, there's so many
people watching us...the adrenaline's rushing, plus we sort
of stripped on stage a little bit." Katy then
admitted: "I could see your performance but I couldn't hear
it. Can you tell us what you were singing." Jen
replied: "When we stripped off, that was a medley of 'Be
With You' and 'Feels So Good' and 'It's OK!'" Asked
about the 'strip-off', Tash explained: "All the boys took
their shirts off and did this Aaliyah dance." The
Kittens also remarked about the rehearsals with Tash saying:
"Rehearsals were really hard" with Lil adding: "We had to
get up really early to do rehearsals but we didn't mind
because we like working." Reminded by Andi that
they've been established now for
many
years he asked the Kittens whether they had any "words of
wisdom" for newer bands at the event like Girls Aloud.
"Where's the bar?" joked Jen. Tash added: "I don't
think we need to give them [Girls Aloud] any advice.
They came from the 'Pop Idol'...or 'Popstars'." [Girls Aloud
emerged from 'Popstars: the Rivals' contest screened at the
end of last year on ITV1 and ITV2 (UK)]. Jen further
added: "They're all together. [They] look after each
other, look out for each other. That's all you've got
to - to keep look out for each other always 'cause five of
you to watch each other's backs." [Girls Aloud have five
members]. Finally, on what other big acts they were
looking forward to seeing at 'Party In the Park', the
Kittens mentioned the Grease special at the end of the show
and Meatloaf. Tash said: "I want to see Beyoncé,
definitely!"

you enjoyed it!!!
