Kerry goes in search for fish & chips |
|
 |
14/7/2002, 10:30am
BST
Kerry, former Kitten, launched a special
contest to find the best fish & chip
shop in the UK. The contest
organised by the Sea Fish Industry
Authority (Seafish) will see customers
completing forms nominating their
favourite chippie and explain why it
should win. Eventually a set of 8
finalists will come through from various
regions of the UK to battle it out at a
major final at the Café Royal, London,
UK on the 13th November 2002 to win the
title of the Fish & Chip Shop of the
Year 2002 title. Kerry took time
out to launch the 15th contest of its
kind at Rock And Sole Plaice, a chippie
in Covent Garden, London and Kerry
indeed once worked at a chippie in
Warrington, Liverpool. Last year's
winner was Allport's Fish & Chip Shop,
Pwllheli, Gwynedd, Wales, run by John
and Sarah Allport. Malcolm Large
of Seafish described the popularity of
the chippie: "More than 250 million
meals were sold in UK fish and chip
shops last year - outselling curry
houses and Indian takeaways by more than
two to one. This is a magnificent
achievement for an industry which has
been part of our national culture for
more than 150 years, and is still
beating off competition." The
search for this year's best chippie
began yesterday (13th July 2002).

KITTENS @ PARTY IN
THE PARK 2002 COVERAGE
8/7/2002, 10:00am
BST
Yesterday saw one of the hugest open-air
gigs take place in the heart of London -
the 95.8 Capital FM 'Party In The Park'
to raise money for The Prince's Trust.
Atomic Kitten featured as one of 27 huge
music artists to take to one stage and
perform in front of a crowd of around
100,000 people!!! The Kittens
looked absolutely stunning when they
appeared on stage in the early afternoon
around 2pm. They were all dressed
in black wearing coloured bands: Tash
with green, Lil with pink and Jen with
white. They began their brilliant
set with their latest single, 'It's OK!'
which really had the crowd cheering,
singing and waving and the Kittens waved
back. 'It's OK!' received a huge
round of applause and then Jen told the
crowd that it was Tash's final live
appearance before she was going away to
have her baby boy, Josh and asked the
crowd to sing along to their next
performance, 'Whole Again' as a
dedication to Tash and Josh. The
crowd certainly did sing and have a
really good time when 'Whole Again' was
performed and again, another huge round
of applause and cheering for the Kittens
after!!! On their last note of
'Whole Again' the Kittens giggled in
delight and it was all smiles for an
absolutely amazing performance from the
Kittens!!! Following their
on-stage appearance the Kittens came on
for a quick interview on 95.8 Capital FM
on Cat Deeley's and Edith Bowman's
Sunday show. Cat started off
asking about the Kittens' outfits:
"You look very, very glam. Now
when you were having these outfits made
and everything, do you feel lovely?"
Tash said: "I feel so glam if
unbelievable." Cat spoke of the
trousers Tash and Lil had on: "I have to
say you have the lowest trousers on in
the world." Lil replied: "We call
them 'bumsters' 'cos you can see that
sort of that area - the bum, so yeah,
they're all very low so we had to do
some preparation on the body for them,
if you know what we mean!" Cat
continued asking the Kittens about their
next new single: "Tell me about your new
track, because you're doing this new
Blondie number, aren't you?" Tash
said: "Oh yeah, we're doing 'The Tide Is
High'" Cat asked: "What made you
choose that?" and Tash replied:
"Well the record company were like,
listen to this, it's great, and we were
like, it's not very Atomic Kitten is it?
'cos it's quite like very Hawaii"
Cat said: "You know what? It's a
great idea for a video, though: 'You
know it sounds like Hawaii, can we go
there?'" Tash replied: "But you know
what was the worse thing, we did 'It's
OK!' on a beach so we couldn't do the
next video on a beach. Sod's Law.
So we did it in a studio." Cat
asked: "Do you look foxy though in it?"
and Tash replied: "We do, it's bit of an
80's vibe to it. It's very bright
and got fabulous looking dancers."
Cat joked: "Now you see, Liz normally
thinks of the dancers - are they
fabulous looking?" and Lil
replied: "They're absolutely gorgeous!"
On Tash's pregnancy, Cat asked her: "So,
how are you feeling at the moment?"
and Tash replied: "I'm really, really
great. Today was my last day at
work. Maternity leave starts from
now. So, it was quite emotional
actually. Come off stage and it
was like: 'OK, I'm off now girls, bye!'"
Lil joked: "The thing is though, I keep
thinking that because Tash is like
finished she's gonna come out more and I
was like 'come with me to a party
tomorrow Tash' and she's like'...I'm
very tired', 'But you're finished work,.
come to a party with me!'" It was
an awesome appearance by the Kittens and
there were also massive performances by
other great artists who are listed
below. Overall, the entire gig was
a success and was definitely unmissable!!!
Well done to the Kittens for a smashing
performance!!! You can catch up on
the highlights and other stuff at the
'Party In The Park' website at Capital
FM by
clicking here!!! And of
course, remember, 'The Tide Is High (Get
The Feeling)', a cover of the massive
Blondie single which the Kittens are
definitely gonna make a brilliant
success is out on the 19th August
2002!!! Details on the new
single will be coming through very soon
so get ready!!! And of course,
our best wishes go to Tash and fiancé,
Fran Cosgrove on the birth of their new
son, Josh who's expected sometime in
August. And if you watched
'Party In The Park', whether you were
there, or any other way, hope you had a
brilliant time!!!

KITTENS @ PARTY IN
THE PARK 2002 COVERAGE
7/7/2002, 4:00pm
BST
While the party is into full swing, this
year's massive 95.8 Capital FM 'Party In
The Park' at London's Hyde Park has been
absolutely awesome and what more awesome
than Atomic Kitten!!! They are one
of 27 acts to appear at this year's huge
event which is raising money for The
Prince's Trust. The clouds may
have loomed high above the spectacular
stage and crowd but that wasn't going to
stop the fun!!! Atomic Kitten
appeared on stage around 2pm to perform
their part of the massive show and yep,
'It's OK!' was their first track which
received a huge reception and arms were
waving in the air and voices singing to
this brilliant tune. Tash, Lil and
Jen looked absolutely stunning all
dressed in black. Tash now almost due on her pregnancy
looked as fantastic as ever and 'It's
OK!' sounded excellent. Then, Jen
informed the crowd that it was the last
live appearance of Tash before she would
be taking maternity leave and told
everyone to get singing to 'Whole Again'
as a dedication to Tash and baby Josh.
The crowd sang along and 'Whole Again'
came out beautifully. The girls
waved to the crowd and it was so cool!!!
The stage backdrop decorated with
televisions and large screens were
graced with the video of 'It's OK!' and
blue-purple patterns while the Kittens
performed. Overall, the Kittens
were super!!! Other huge acts that
are also appearing at the huge event
along with Atomic Kitten, include Blue,
Will Young, Gareth Gates, a1, Westlife,
Ja Rule & Ashanti, Shaggy & Rayvon,
Darius Danesh, Libert | | | | |
