Box Live! review |
|
 |
31/5/2003, 7:00pm BST
Atomic Kitten were wowing the crowds last Thursday (29th
May) at the NIA Academy in Birmingham, UK. They
perform three smash hits on stage including the summery 'The
Tide Is High (Get The Feeling)', the balladry 'The Last
Goodbye' and then got the crowds up and dancing as they sang
the tune, 'Be With You'! The Kittens were accompanied
with three dancers who gave an absolutely fantastic
performance! Other acts to appear included Dannii
Minogue, Darius, Mis-Teeq, Girls Aloud and newcomers D-Side.
Backstage, the Kittens were having a real laugh and talking
in rather silly voices while munching sweets (like little
girls really)! Jen who recovered from the sore throat
she got a couple of days back (causing a reschedule of the
South Africa gigs) recalled the moment: "The doctor told me
I couldn't speak for three days - it was torture". The
Kittens noted that the third album is going really well and
is due for release by the end of the summer. Jen added
that she is the only Kitten to have not met Justin
Timberlake! Fortunately, Tash had the chance: "I met
him after the Brits,. He kissed me on the cheek and I
haven't washed it since". Check out the remaining
summer appearances on our
Tour &
Appearances page now!

South Africa gigs postponed |
|
 |
21/5/2003, 7:10pm BST
The South Africa gigs that were due to take place on
22nd-24th May 2003 have been postponed. The reason
being is that Jen is not well as she is suffering from
bronchitis. Jen's doctor, Garfield Davies said in a
statement to fans in South Africa that Jen had to rest:
"Jenny has to rest her voice completely for at least 5 days
or she could suffer long term damage to her vocal chords."
The band also released a statement saying: "Atomic Kitten
are very sorry to announce that due to band mate Jenny Frost
suffering from a severe chest infection, bronchitis, and
swollen vocal cords, they will unfortunately be rescheduling
the tour of South Africa, on advice from Jenny's doctor,
vocal specialist Garfield Davies". Tash also said in
the statement: "South Africa is such an important territory
for us, we want to be seen at our best. We don't think
it's fair to our loyal fans just to give them two thirds of
Atomic Kitten, so we have come to the tough decision to
reschedule our three day trip for when Jenny is better, we
will be back very soon".
Fans are urged to hold on to their tickets as rescheduled
dates will be announced very soon. We shall tell you
as soon as we get the details.

Fan-run concert! |
|
 |
16/5/2003, 6:45pm BST
It was a great night at the MEN Arena in Manchester, UK last
Wednesday (14th May). The Pepsi Silver Clef Concert
brought in eight music acts into one packed event! An
audience of 150,000 people filled the arena to see Atomic
Kitten, Craig David, Girls Aloud, Busted, Mis-Teeq, Liberty
X, Blue and Big Brovaz perform tunes nominated by fans who
they really liked to see them perform! Atomic Kitten
in particular sang Madison Avenue's 'Don't Call Me Baby'
live on stage getting the fans to dance along!!! The
money raised at the event will go to Nordoff Robbins Music
Therapy helping around 200 children and adults receive music
therapy every week. Jen explained why the fundraising
project was important: "It's important for us for two
reasons. One is that it is music therapy but secondly,
because they want to open a centre up here in the North
West, which is where we come from, so it's really, really
important for us tonight. I lived on this very road
for 17 years, on Bury New Road, so it's great to be back
here doing something for such a good cause. Every bum on
every seat out there has given money to charity." For
those who didn't quite manage to get tickets to see the
stars perform live, you can watch the entire performance on
T4 (UK) on 8th June 2003! |
